Telephone / Online Counselling

Coronavirus Update

In light of the current situation regarding the Coronavirus, COVID-19, we are now offering online or telephone counselling in place of face-to-face sessions. Moving to virtual meetings means that our counsellors will continue to be able to provide support during this extraordinary crisis. If you want to make an appointment, please email or call us on 0151 329 3637. We will do our best to help.

While it is preferable to see people face-to-face, we recognize that this isn't always possible. Some clients may live in areas where they have been unable to find a suitable counsellor. Others may feel unable to leave their home and /or travel to counselling or may be caring for children, relatives or others and simply cannot make time to attend in person. Online and telephone counselling can provide a valuable alternative in such situations.

We are always willing to consider your individual circumstances and will do our best to accommodate your needs. One couple we saw spent a significant amount of their time to two different countries. Using Skype we were able to offer them ongoing couple's counselling despite the fact that, a lot of the time, they were thousands of miles apart.

Teleconferencing / Skype Counselling

This is the next best thing to face-to-face work as we still get to see each other. Research has shown that the vast majority of communication is nonverbal and the likes of Skype allow facial expression and body language to be seen. This can make communication more natural, easier and more effective compared to telephone counselling.

Telephone Counselling

We also offer telephone counselling in situations where it's not possible, or the client doesn't want to, engage in video conferencing. While some nonverbal clues are lost as we are unable to see each other, a lot is carried in the way we speak, tone of voice, etc. so telephone counselling is still very effective.

Text Counselling / Email Counselling

Because of the limits of text based communication, and the opportunities for misunderstandings they they bring, we don't normally offer text chat or email counselling. However, in exceptional circumstances, it may be something we would consider. If this is something you are looking for, please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Ethical Considerations / Confidentiality

Please remember that all electronic communication passes over public communication channels. While we maintain the highest levels of client confidentiality we cannot prevent eavesdropping within the communication network. Protocols such as Skype are encrypted so cannot easily be observed but we are unable to guarantee such communications cannot be intercepted.
